Landing:
A Movement Festival
Join us in exploring how dance and movement can help us foster deep relationships with land and with each other.
August 8th - 10th, 2025
Zumwalt Acres / Sheldon, IL

What is Landing?
Our Vision
Landing is a movement project, festival, and community oriented around building loving relationships with land.
We believe that every person with a body is a dancer, and to move with intention is to dance. Come dance with us!
2025 Offerings
We will host a movement festival August 8-10th, 2025 at Zumwalt Acres, a regenerative farm and community in Sheldon, IL.
The festival weekend will bring us together physically to move and explore in one place. The weekend will include workshops, performances, farm meals, and community building activities. Learn more!
We gather virtually to lay the groundwork for our explorations and help us get connected with the land we live on now.
Tentatively scheduled for Sunday, May 25, 2025.
Closing & Continuing Gatherings
We will have a closing virtual gathering in late August to start the process of integrating what we’re learning into our everyday lives.
Grounding Questions:
What do you know about the land you live on — the soil, the beings that make it up, its ways and histories, the people who have stewarded it?
How do you fit into the land’s histories?
What rituals and ways of honoring and being in relationship to land have you been disconnected from in your ancestry? Which are you connected to?
Guiding Questions:
How do our bodies relate to land -- lands you're on, lands that you were raised with, lands that you call home, etc.?
What does it mean to be in reciprocal and loving relationship with land? How can dance/movement be a tool for dialogue with land, and building more loving/ethical relationship to land?
What does it mean to relate with land that you are ancestrally connected to, and land that you aren’t, with care and complexity? How might settlers be in interdependence with land while participating in Indigenous justice and sovereignty?
What does homeland and what does diaspora feel like in our bodies?
Ways you can help:
